Chapter markers
Free YouTube Chapter Generator
Paste a YouTube link or upload a video, and get timestamped chapter headings for every major topic.
How to generate YouTube chapters automatically
OmniveraLabs watches a video and automatically breaks it into YouTube-style chapters, based on real changes in topic, each with a timestamp and a short title.
The output is formatted exactly the way YouTube expects chapter markers in a video description, so it can be pasted in directly.
- Paste a YouTube link, or upload a video file.
- Confirm you have the rights to process the content.
- OmniveraLabs watches the video and marks each topic change with a timestamp and title.
- Copy the chapter list and paste it into your YouTube video description.
How YouTube chapters work
YouTube turns a list of timestamps in your video description into clickable chapter markers, but only if the list follows its rules. The first chapter must start at 00:00. There must be at least three chapters. Each must be at least ten seconds long. They must be listed in ascending order.
OmniveraLabs formats its output to satisfy all of these, so the list can be pasted into a description as-is.
Writing chapter titles that work
A chapter title is doing two jobs: telling a viewer what is in that section, and telling YouTube what the section is about. Short and concrete beats clever. "Setting up the camera" is more useful than "The fun part". Aim for three to six words.
You can edit any title before pasting it in. The timestamps are the part that has to stay accurate.

Frequently asked questions
How do automatic YouTube chapters work?
OmniveraLabs watches your video, detects where the topic genuinely changes, and generates a timestamp and short title for each chapter automatically.
How do I add the generated chapters to my YouTube video?
Copy the chapter list OmniveraLabs generates and paste it directly into your YouTube video description; YouTube recognizes the timestamp format automatically.
How many chapters does it generate?
Between 3 and 12 chapters, depending on how long the video is and how many distinct topics or sections it actually contains.
Can I get a transcript with timestamps instead of chapters?
Yes, OmniveraLabs’ transcription tool has a “Show Timestamps” option for a sentence-by-sentence timestamped transcript, which is more granular than chapter markers.
Why are my chapters not showing on YouTube?
YouTube only renders chapters when the first one starts at 00:00, there are at least three of them, and each is at least ten seconds long. If any of those is not true, the timestamps stay as plain text.
Can I edit the chapter titles?
Yes. Copy the list and change any title before pasting it into your description. Keep the timestamps as they are so they stay aligned with the video.
Do I need an account?
No. You can generate chapters and see a preview without signing up. A free account unlocks the full list.
